Short Film and Documentary Films in the Competition

The shortlist of contenders in the Short Film and Documentary categories of the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival National Competitions has been released. The Festival, set to begin on October 26, will be awarding a total of TL 90 thousand in prize money for the two categories.

Promising a line-up of the year’s outstanding documentaries, the National Documentary Film Competition received 73 applications in all. The shortlist was drawn up by a pre- selection committee comprising director, Taylan Mintaş, the director and academic, Kurtuluş Özgen, and documentary filmmaker and academic, Zeynep Merve Uygun. The competition titles are as follows:

These 10 films will be considered by a jury made up of: Melis Behlil, a film critic and Head of the Radio, Television & Film Department at Kadir Has University; documentary director- producer, Nurdan Arca; and Veton Nurkollari, the artistic director of DokuFest, one of the world’s leading documentary and short film festivals. The jury will present two awards: one for Best Film, which comes with TL 40 thousand in prize money, and the other the Special Jury Prize, which is worth TL 20 thousand.

TL 30 thousand in Support to Two Short Films
In the National Short Film Competition, a total of 15 titles will compete for the Best Film Award, worth TL 20 thousand, and the Special Jury Prize, worth TL 10 thousand. The pre-selection committee, made up of director-screenwriter, Nazlı Elif Durlu, film critic, Senem Erdine, and director, Nehir Tuna, drew up the shortlist of 15 films from 215 applications. Members of the jury for the National Short Film Competition incude: Tuğçe Altuğ, the Afife Jale award-winning actor who starred most recently in Butterflies (Kelebekler); Berlinale coordinator, Wilhelm Faber; and director, Rezan Yeşilbaş, whose short film, Silent (Bé Deng), picked up awards at both Cannes and the Golden Orange.
