The 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Türkiye’s longest-running film festival, will take place from 24 to 31 October 2026. As part of the festival, the “Special Award for Contribution to Cinema” will be presented to Beşiktaş Kültür Merkezi (BKM).
Founded in 1994 through the initiative of Yılmaz Erdoğan and Necati Akpınar, BKM has been contributing to Türkiye’s cultural and artistic life for more than 30 years. What began with theatre has, over the years, grown into a major creative journey spanning cinema, television and the digital world.
BKM Theatre has brought numerous stage productions to audiences. “Bir Demet Tiyatro” aired for 138 episodes between 1995 and 2007, becoming one of the most important milestones in BKM’s artistic journey.
BKM Film continues its cinematic journey, which began in 2001 with “Vizontele.” Over the past quarter-century, BKM has produced more than 80 feature films and brought to life many of the highest-grossing films in Turkish cinema. BKM productions have reached a total of 103,291,000 cinema admissions, securing a strong place not only at the box office but also in Türkiye’s collective memory.
Throughout this long journey, BKM has produced more than films and plays. It has supported the careers of hundreds of cinema and theatre professionals and helped introduce dozens of actors to the industry. It has created a space where new stories, new talent and new productions can take root. BKM has made significant contributions to the growth of cultural and artistic production in Türkiye, the development of the industry and the strengthening of its connection with audiences.
The vision, courage and years of dedication of Yılmaz Erdoğan and Necati Akpınar hold a special place in BKM’s journey. The steps they took together helped not only BKM grow, but also contributed significantly to the development of Türkiye’s theatre and cinema sectors.
For more than a quarter of a century, BKM has continued to create, pursue new stories and support artists. Today, it remains active with the same enthusiasm on theatre stages, in cinema and on next-generation content platforms.
Following more than 30 years of BKM’s creative journey, a quarter-century of its cinematic story, and the stories of hundreds of artists and 103,291,000 moviegoers, the presentation of the Special Award for Contribution to Cinema to BKM at the 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival is more than an award given to an institution; it is a tribute of gratitude to a long journey dedicated to cinema and the arts in Türkiye.
BKM’s story, spanning more than a quarter of a century, will be honoured with a special award at Antalya Golden Orange—one of the most established meeting points of Turkish cinema—during the festival’s opening ceremony on Saturday, 24 October 2026.
