Turkey’s longest-running film festival, the Antalya International Golden Orange Film Festival, aims to evaluate and encourage high-quality works by film students at film schools through the “Film School Student Film Competition,” now in its third year, thereby contributing to the production of new films by these students.
At this year’s festival, which will mark its 63rd edition and take place from October 24 to 31, 2026, the Film Schools Student Film Competition—where film professionals and film students will come together—will be held.
Film schools across Turkey are eligible to participate in the competition, and each institution may submit one film with a maximum runtime of 15 minutes. Films produced between October 1, 2025, and July 30, 2026, are eligible for the Film Schools Student Film Competition.
Applications for the competition must be submitted via the Golden Orange’s official website by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Schools and students who advance to the festival finals will receive accreditation to attend recent domestic and international films in the festival program; they will also have the opportunity to meet with film industry professionals throughout the festival. The student film selected as “Best Film” in the competition will be awarded the Golden Orange statuette.
Support for Film Schools Continues at the Golden Orange Film Festival!
At the festival, 10 films—selected from among 34 projects submitted by 75 different film schools across Turkey for last year’s Film School Student Film Competition—were evaluated. In the competition, Eylül Babur from Istanbul Medipol University won the Gain Jury Special Award for Student Films for her film “What Is the Perfect Measure?”, while Abdurrahim Karabulut from Istanbul University won the Best Film Award for his film “The Murmur of the Mound.”
At the 61st International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, 12 films were evaluated from among 43 projects submitted by 75 different film schools across Turkey. The first-place award in the competition went to the film “System,” directed by Abdülhalim Erez, a student at Maltepe University. The film that won the Jury Special Award was “Cycle,” directed by Ramazan Yakut, a student at Kastamonu University.
