As we carry a 63-year cinematic heritage into the future, we lay another stone upon this valuable bridge spanning rooted traditions and fresh pursuits.

Inspired by art and cinema's power to expand horizons, our International Film Department has aimed to listen closely to the rich tapestry of voices rising from all around the globe for this year’s program. Accordingly, while welcoming productions that have drawn acclaim at key centers such as Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Rotterdam, Karlovy Vary, and Locarno, we also create a space in Antalya for original voices whose resonance transcends geographic boundaries. Hosting the Turkish Premieres of 40 titles, alongside 1 World Premiere and 1 International Premiere within this 41-film selection, we view this as a historical responsibility and a fundamental duty anchored in our festival’s deep-seated tradition and vision. At the same time, we embrace highlighting the signatures of female filmmakers and women's stories as a foundational pillar of this selection.

In curating the lineup, rather than taking refuge in a single overarching theme, our priority has been to make room for cinema’s polyphonic nature. Spanning a broad spectrum from individual struggles for existence to societal shifts, we invite the audience to question established norms rather than offering pre-packaged answers. As we shrink global boundaries through the intimate connection formed over shared human struggles, we also aim to deepen our perspective and horizons through the richness found in varied responses to identical conditions.

In the International Competition section, we bring together 13 titles, all meeting the audience in Turkey for the first time in Antalya, that touch upon the diverse layers of human nature. Distilling films from key hubs like Cannes, Berlin, and Venice alongside unique voices rising from different corners of the world, this selection observes a vast geographical range extending from Latin America to East Asia, and Europe to the Middle East. Bearing the signatures of filmmakers across generations, these works foster a common ground for contemporary cinema's diverse approaches, exploring the depths of human nature and the interplay between individual and society through their original visual languages and distinct narrative styles.

In our Out of Competition section, guided by the inclusive nature of art, we invite audiences to embark on new discoveries through Cinema Of The World. As we witness the journeys of individuals and societies through films fed by distinct cultures and traditions, we open cinema’s liberating window onto humanity’s collective memory, dilemmas, and pursuits. Distilled from this rich global fabric, 15 productions carry the polyphonic resonance of contemporary cinema.

This year, we have dedicated the international program’s special section, titled Roots, Light, and Camera!, to filmmakers who continue to create under the shadow of war and occupation. Comprising 13 films from Iran, Lebanon, Ukraine, and Palestine, this selection features a stylistic variety spanning fiction to documentary and short narratives to feature-lengths. It centers on the labor of creators who, amidst severe and extraordinary circumstances, do not merely settle for living or surviving, but utilize cinema as a realm of existence and expression. In this section, as we bear witness to the resilience of filmmakers maintaining their artistic practice against all odds, we aim to ensure their invaluable effort reaches broader audiences.

We hope this program leaves a lasting impression on your minds and hearts.
