Organized as part of the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Film Schools Student Films Competition brings together young filmmakers, film schools, and industry professionals for the third time this year.

Going beyond the framework of traditional short film competitions, the Film Schools Student Films Competition focuses on films produced by film schools within the scope of their own educational programs and curricula. The competition aims to make visible not only the students’ cinematic productions, but also the diverse educational approaches, distinctive forms of expression, and individual cinematic languages that shape them. With a shared sense of representation at its core, the competition puts forward not only the directors, but also the educational philosophies and teachings of the schools they represent.

The principle of equality, which forms the foundation of the competition, also underpins the participation and evaluation criteria set out in its regulations. These conditions ensure that all participants are evaluated on an equal basis, allowing students’ individual and artistic productions to be considered within a fair and transparent framework. In this way, every student and school takes part in a national selection that upholds equal opportunity.

As interest in the competition continues to grow each year, so does its significance for film students. The competition strengthens young filmmakers’ connections with the professional world of cinema, while creating opportunities for students from different schools to come together, exchange experiences, and develop new collaborations.

Following a careful evaluation process among submissions from 70 different film schools across Türkiye, 12 films were selected as finalists.

Bringing together works from across Türkiye, the selection reflects a diverse range of cinematic forms, from fiction and documentary to animation and other distinctive modes of storytelling. Each film will carry the unique texture of the geography from which it emerges to Antalya. Stories rising from different regions of Türkiye will come together in a single selection on the Golden Orange screen.
