After a powerful earthquake struck the region on February 6, 2023, causing widespread destruction across Hatay and surrounding areas, a playworker, Nedim Buğral, together with a team of volunteers, established multiple playgrounds throughout Hatay to provide children with safe spaces for recreation and recovery. The project called “Your Adventure Yard (YAY)”, inspired by the “loose parts play” approach developed in Europe after World War II, is based on the idea that children can transform discarded materials easily found in their environment into the toys and objects they imagine. The collective healing process, which began in the tent settlements just two weeks after the earthquake, has continued for over two years in the container settlements. The documentary film portrays the world of children who find strength through play, highlighting the importance of solidarity and the transformative power of imagination.
