Adapted from Geert Taghon's novel, ‘Skunk’ tells the story of Liam, a neglected youth. With this film, which premiered in Tallinn, director Koen Mortier tackles a profoundly jarring subject.
Taken from his chaotic and violent home, Liam is placed in a residential care facility. However, he struggles to adapt, as he faces even worse bullying in the facility. Although Liam initially finds solace in a new friend and social workers, his past traumas resurface during his rehabilitation, and he cannot escape his past. What will Liam experience as he tries to return to life?
With a striking and sharp narrative, Mortier compels the audience to reflect on both individual and societal levels through the film.
