'Türkan: The Story of a Female Scientist'
The documentary entitled 'Türkan: The Story of a Female Scientist', which was prepared specially for the 100th anniversary of our Republic, tells the inspiring life story of Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan, a defender of the modern Turkish Republic, an idealist scientist who won the International Gandhi Award for Leprosy in 1986, and a pioneer of modern education. In other studies about her so far, Türkan Saylan and the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD) have always been described together, and Türkan's personality and her experiences as a woman who achieved these successes have been omitted. In this documentary, the complete life of a female scientist who strives for the development of the modern Republic of Turkey is discussed. The most important goal of this project is to ensure that the name of Türkan Saylan, which has been damaged for political reasons, reaches young people and even people around the world in a pure way and that she is kept alive as an exemplary scientist.
With this documentary, one of the goals were to convey the life of one of the exemplary women of the Republic of Turkey to millions of people and those interested abroad, and to make both our country and Türkan Saylan's name remembered with science again.
In the documentary, Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan's life; her personality and her transformation from a doctor to a pioneering woman and an example for society are described. The project was prepared by Özlem Özdemir, a journalist and investigative writer specializing in women's biographies, with the support of ÇYDD.
